“The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is expected to be the first smartphone to come with Snapdragon 675 SoC”
Xiaomi started the new year 2019 by making the Redmi series a separate brand and launching the first phone under the independent brand, Redmi Note 7. At the same event, it was revealed the Redmi Note 7 Pro with 48-megapixel camera will be coming in February, after the Spring Festival (February 5th). Now, some new details of the upcoming Redmi Note 7 Pro have emerged.
Rumours on Chinese social networking site Weibo claim Redmi Note 7 Pro could be the world’s first smartphone to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor. Notably, the chipset is fabricated on the 11nm process and was spotted on Antutu with a score that was better than that of Snapdragon 710. Xiaomi had previously announced it will launch a Snapdragon 675-powered handset in 2019, but has not confirmed the name of the device yet.
Further, we already knew that the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be flaunting a new and improved rear camera. It was announced at last week’s Redmi Note 7 launch event that the upcoming ‘Pro’ model will feature a 48-megapixel Sony IMX 586 sensor. The Sony sensor was initially planned for the Redmi Note 7 but the company had to ditch it in favour of Samsung GM1 sensor because of supply chain constraints. With the Sony IMX 586 sensor, Redmi Note 7 Pro will be able to capture images with 48-megapixel resolution, as opposed to Redmi Note 7 that captures 12-megapixel images but interpolates to 48-megapixel.
Additionally, the rumours on Weibo claims that the Redmi Note 7 Pro price will start from RMB 1,499 (~Rs 15,800).
To recap on the Redmi Note 7 specifications, it ships with a 6.3-inch display with a waterdrop-style notch up top and full HD+ resolution. There is Snapdragon 660 chipset ticking at its core, accompanied by up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB expandable storage. In the camera department, the smartphone flaunts a 48-megapixel (f/1.8) + 5-megapixel cameras on the back and a 13-megapixel selfie shooter on the front.
The smartphone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and boots Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9 out of the box. Other features of the handset include rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type C, and connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and IR Blaster.
