“Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha comes with Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, 512GB storage, 108MP primary rear camera and 4,050mAh battery”
Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha smartphone was unveiled at an event in China on September 24th, i.e. yesterday alongside Mi 9 Pro 5G and MIUI 11. Unlike the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, the MIX Alpha is a concept phone with Surround Screen and an impressive 180.6 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is also the world’s first phone to feature 108MP camera, and there are no physical buttons as it relies on pressure-sensitive virtual buttons instead of hardware power and volume buttons. Now, according to Lei Jun, the company has started its research on MIX Alpha two years ago with over 1,000 engineers participating in the development. Xiaomi claims to have spent over RMB 500 million ($70 million) on the project.
Furthermore, Lei Jun said that the company would invest over $1.5 billion in R&D in the future. The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha packs dual-display chip driver with titanium metal frame. The wraparound display Surround Screen lets users switch the content to rear from the front seamlessly. To prevent false touches on the secondary screen, it comes with mis-touch detection technologies such as multi-sensors and AI algorithms. The sides show notifications, widgets and more. The triple camera setup on the rear can also be used to click selfies.
As for the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha ships with Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC coupled with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It has 5G connectivity and packs 4,050 battery with 40W fast charging support. In terms of optics, there is a 108-megapixel primary sensor, 20-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel depth-sensor with 2x zoom at the back. The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha 5G costs RMB 19,999 (roughly Rs 2,00,000) in China.
