“The company aims to release more products via Mi.com platform in India”

Xiaomi has added yet another achievement to its illustrious career. The popular mobile phone and Smart TV brand is now also the most popular online sale smartphone sale channel. Xiaomi’s Mi.com is among the top online smartphone channels in India with 11 percent market share, according to Counterpoint Research Market Monitor for Q1 2019. While it’s still way behind the market leader Flipkart and Amazon with 53 percent and 36 percent share respectively, Mi.com is the only exclusive brand website to be leading this category.

The Mi.com sells only Xiaomi’s products whereas the Flipkart and Amazon implement a multi-brand approach. Since its inception in May 2015, Xiaomi has witnessed an incredible surge and currently enjoys over 3 million daily active users (DAU) and over 40 million monthly active users (MAU) on its e-commerce platform. The site recorded the highest 5.5 million DAU in the last one year. “Mi.com’s soaring popularity in the nation has also been an implication of its effective online sales strategy leading to over eight million paid customers since inception and 24 million Mi Store App installs,” the company said in its press release.

As for smartphone shipments, Xiaomi is the most popular choice with 43 percent market share. While the brand still leads the chart, its market share has declined by 13 percent on the year-on-year basis. The Xiaomi Redmi 6A, Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi Note 7 series drove volumes. Realme became the third largest player in the online segment with 11 percent market share, while Samsung took the second spot with an improved 15 percent share, thanks to its online exclusive Galaxy M series.

Meanwhile, the company aims to “launch more products via Mi.com in the country,” Raghu Reddy, Head, Category and Online Sales, Xiaomi India, told IANS.

The company sells most of its products online through Mi.com which includes smartphones, TVs, security cameras, power banks, speakers, fitness bands and more.
