i did a lot of research before buying this one. bought 2 weeks ago at the same price i find this perfect laptop for my need. and my needs are- 1) a computer that could run study purpose software 2)have some type of security( this has finger print scanner) 3)at least dual core 4)less weight 5)14 inch screen(makes it more portable then 15 inch screen) and now pros- 1) PENTIUM dual core at 2.2 Ghz-This is difficult to find at this price and that too from lenevo 2) the brand lenevo itself 3) the harddisk is 500G and at 7200 rpm!!(this feature is difficult to find on laptops more then 35k also) it is unbelievable(but i checked its true itz acutally 7200 rmp) 4) USB 3.0 is available(this feature is useful nowadays) 5) i got a free BAGPACK which has a mrp of 2150. its quality is great and can fit all ur belongings.(same bag is for laptops of 30k) 6) and not least intel HD graphics. 7) fingerprint scanner is COOL :D cons- 1)little tilt in screen angle can be difficult to see. but you cant expect it to be great at this price. 2) no driver cd. have to downloaded from website. all in all a great value for money laptop.
A friend who had purchased this lenovo b490 asked to install linux. I did an install of lubuntu 12.10, 32bit, as the provided ram is 2Gb. This unit is from the Business series and build is like thinkpad. Boxy, slightly thick, very little flex, somber plastics, 2.2 kg, sturdy, great keyboard, weight well distributed and a great companion for work, multimedia and travel. The screen is glossy with good colors. The machine really zips with lubuntu. Very quick boot, shutdown and no spinning wheels ! Highly recommended. All functions, function keys, work out of the box. The wifi broadcom driver requires enabling restricted extras. The touchpad is pimpled, two finger scrolling, flick scrolling, tap to click, all work like a charm. 2 x usb2 and 2x usb 3 ports divided on right and left sides are useful. Single mic/headphone like all lenovos. The hard disk is 7200 rpm from seagate, 12 ms response time, with a decent cache. The first click response is slow and after that, whoosh, the response is magical and reminds one of an ssd. I customized the lubuntu install, removing the default lubuntu apps(abiword, gnumeric, chromium etc), replacing with the full complement of ubuntu apps (chrome, opera, firefox, libreoffice, vlc player, totem, xbmc, wine, games, etc) and avoided unity which hogs resources. I handed the machine to a house guest visiting from usa to check the lappy and the response 'Its great, just like my mac, at an unbelievable price' The only gripe here- flipkart has priced this way above the market price which my friend paid. I do hope flipkart discards the baggage (bag) and gets the price down by a couple of thousand at least, to make this a really popular choice.
i bought this laptop from local store ,nice laptop - quick hard disk ,finger print scanner is very cool , only drawback is drivers its little bit confusing in lenovo website window experience index processor - 6.1 good speed Ram - 5.5 aero graphics - 4.4 installing nvdia optimus driver gaming graphic - 5.8 HDD - 5.9 7200 rpm Under 23500/- this is the best laptop i found heat to early need cooling pad for this overall good laptop with some excellent feature
