Great machine

Got the laptop from WS retail (that is Flipkart). The delivery was in time and well packed. Using the laptop for about a week. Installed Xubuntu 14.04 LTS. Everything works like charm. Display is decent.. though it cannot compete with my Lenovo T440 at work. The price too.. T440 costs about 80k. This is almost half that price. Performance wise, I replaced the RAM to be a 8GB 1333Mhz single sitck one. The hdd is already 7000 rpm, so that the laptop is blazing fast now :-) Solid build, touch plastic, and awesome looks (I particularly liked that metalic lining along the borders). The keypad is best in class. Many would not like the new touchpad from Lenono. I am used to it, since it is the same as my T440. I am getting almost 4 hours backup on moderate use. That is pretty decent. The only downside I can see with the laptop is that, the keyboard is not backlit. Well, that is the only con. Life is not 100% perfect, anyway! And what makes me really proud is, that this Thinkpad is "Made in India" :-)

pleased with it

for the same price, Dell was offering better specifications, but I still went with it because I wanted a ThinkPad this time. It works fine :) What I didn't like was that you have to download the drivers yourself from the Lenovo website, and I am not very techno savvy. why they could not have offered some CDs that had it, I don't know. I had to take help... you also need your own OS which is an additional cost. But very happy to finally get on the ThinkPad bandwagon, and boy, am I glad :)

Excellent

A very good laptop, especially for writers who looks for a law budget weightless laptops. This is the best one for you as the ThinkPad E431 is not only weightless, but also it doesn't have any heat even after continuously working for 5-8 hours. I use to, browse, watch movies, and go on typing non-stop for hours by keeping it on my lap itself. And the supporting battery life is fabulous for my work and is supportive. And also that it has a good keypad that is really smooth and good. The only disappointment is that when I bought it, it didn't they didn't provide any CD to install the windows in it. For that it was really a tough job.
