Simply put, Lenovo has made an earnest attempt at delivering a quality product at a price point which others will have to match grudgingly. I do not wish to bore you all by repeating all the tech parameters & performance. However, would like to highlight the way this transaction took place so that buyers in future are aware. As usual, Flipkart delivered a few days earlier than committed. A couple of days later, I realized that the camera was not functioning and one of the USB drives was damaged. I tried fixing the camera by re-installing the driver and when I failed, got in touch with Lenovo who sent a service engineer to replace the camera after a couple of attempts. He tried in vain and I decided to ask for a replacement since it was not even a week. To my horror, Lenovo refused to replace it despite their engineer's report, because the purchase was done online!!! Here, I would like commend Flipkart for the manner in which they dealt with it. The tech guy at Flipkart (Mr. Vinay) empathised with me and got it replaced within a week and now I have a laptop which works perfectly well. So, when you see my rating, it's more for Flipkart's service commitment more than Lenovo's!
The pro's about this laptop has already been mentioned in many other reviews and I have nothing more to add to it. I concur with other reviewers that this is a great laptop in terms of build quality, weight, config etc. However, I found one glaring problem that none of the reviewers bothered to mention in their reviews. There is a limitation to the angle upto which the screen can be tilted. You can tilt the screen just around 100-110 degrees. This would force one to use the laptop in a fixed position (on a flat surface like a table) and it cannot be really kept on your lap or used on a couch or bed. Also there is a risk of damaging the screen and the hinges and latches attaching it to the keyboard when someone tries to tilt the screen beyond this limit. Flipkart also refused to accept the return order saying its not a defect but a design limitation of the product. Had some reviewer mentioned this problem/limitation, I would not have purchased this laptop. Not that the product is bad, I will have to be extra careful with the laptop. Hence giving only 2 stars as the rating.
Greetings everyone! Its more than 2 months and i'd like to share my xp with the main pros and cons of this awesome beast. Pros: 1. Processor: Best i5 3rd gen processor (2.6Ghz.. while others in this range offer 1.8Ghz), i've tried a lot of brands under this range as i'm living in Hostel with hundreds of Laptops.. Its blazing fast in processing. 2. Graphics: 2GB nVidia 720m Graphics... Some people might suggest it as a low end GPU but with 2GB of memory its more than sufficient to play most of the high end games for another 3-4 years, have played high end graphic games even on battery. 3. Battery Life: On everything turned to produce the maximum battery life, I easily get 4+ Hrs(Just use the battery solutions given by Lenovo to maximize your batter life, and it will never drain its juice. 4. Cooling Solutions: Running it continuously from morning to evening and just minimum heat, can be used as a portable solution as it dosent heats up your laps while you do your work outside. 5. Screen: What an amazing touch screen man, superb!!! , Earlier i was using a 15" model, but i find 14" a little more convenient to carry around and even on my desk. i dont find much problems.(If you are thinking to buy Win8.1 device than Go for touch screen only, else you might regret later when you see one in your friends hand :D coz its just amazing. 6. Keyboard: AccuType or whatever they say... its superb and the layout and use of function keys is superbly managed... you'l miss the numpad section but its ok to live with it until you are just using it as a calculator. 7. Touch-pad: Before buying i heard from a lot that this one isnt good to work with...but after working with it for more than 2 months, i find it really good, multi-gesture controls work well and swiping is easy(Win 8.1 feature) 8. I hardly found any cons in it except the 1st one, just gave the rest in case it matter to your style of working and use but we can live with it happily :D Cons: 1. The biggest con is while working for a long time, sometimes you might feel a little heat of the Hard disk on your palms. 2. Having a 4 cell battery... a 6 time battery would have been better for a longer life. 3. Nowadays, considering things like HD vids, pics etc... 500GB myt feel a bit less too some for workaholics, Its more than sufficient. 4. Tilt angle of the screen: considerably less when compared to others.
It's a great experience to work with touch screen laptop in windows 8,as it added feather to the hat. Lenovo Essential G400s (59-383645) is specifically targets the people who are looking for powerful and gaming laptop. Recently I bought this laptop for a very reasonable price including freebies. I really felt great for the user interface and performance. Pro's -->high performance(2.6GHz) -->Good camera resolution and aspect ratio(16:9 in 720p) -->Nvdia GeForce GPU -->Affordable price for this configuration Con's -->Less battery backup(it is common in high performance laptops) -->Not a big storage space Especially, I like to thank flipkart for delivering this amazing product with in 24 hours
I bought this laptop from a local retailer. Its just awesome!!!!! I used this laptop for 20 - 25 days for now and the performance is awesome!!! It has 2GB Nvidia GT 720M card so it can play high end games. Touch response is super fast. It has built in speakers and the sound clarity with Dolby Advanced Audio v2 is amazing. It has 4 GB of ram which is pretty much enough but it can be expanded to 16 GB. The processor is not Ultra Low Voltage Processor but t is a standard mobile processor Intel Core i5-3230M @ 2.60GHz with turbo boost upto 3.20GHz. It is neither an ultrabook nor a high end gaming laptop. It is a mid range laptop. It is a bit bulky but is sturdy. It also has a DVD writer. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. This is worth every paisa.... Hope this is found useful... CHEERS!!!!!!!!
