very good choice

i have purchased it 2 month ago,no problem at all. its generate heat when u play hd games for hours, generally all laptops do. i have played AC3,AC4,crysis2,3.. fifa14,sleeping dogs,COD2,battle field all do very smooth performance.. i'm happy from this. but be careful after buying it u should update its BIOS from lenovo website.. its current version may be BIOS1.05, u should update to BIOS2.05. this update make ur laptop cooling ... its sounds system & video is superb, but sound is lil. low for enjoying movie with all. that's all u can go for it.

Lenovo G505s Automatic shutdown and heating issue resolved

There is a known issue with this laptop "Overheating causes Automatic System shutdown" . But this issue can easily be resolved through a simple BIOS Update. Lenovo G505s shuts down automatically when CPU temperature rises too high (sometimes 90 centigrade) without FAN running. This happens only with Laptops running with Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit and Windows 8.1 64-bit. Solution: Updating the new BIOS to version 2.03 (Currently laptops will be shipped with 2.02 Version) can solve this issue. You can download and update the BIOS from Lenovo Support Section

Great Laptop at its price, not so good at gaming performance

Bought this one from retail in August, been using it a lot since then, sometimes playing continuously for 8 hours straight.. There is no heating problem. Battery life slightly above 2 hours in normal computing and movies, just 1 hr 20 min in high performance gaming. Looks are great, extremely slim, handy, weighs average, keypad is good, not backlit, but has NumPad. Speakers aren't loud enough, you'll need a proper speaker set if you wanna watch a movie with friends. Screen is alright for this range, so are the touchpad and webcam. General processing is quite good given that its AMD. However, an i3 3rd gen out-performs it (my room-mate has it). 1MB cache is a joke, what brand gives you just 1MB of cache nowadays! RAM is a big weak point, thanks to the AMD graphics I have 828MB of RAM as "hardware reserved", which leaves me with just 3.2GB useable RAM- not good for gamers. Looking forward to adding another 4GB of RAM. 1 TB of HDD is great you'd think, well if the space matters to you more than the read/write speed, you have a good deal here. I never got more than 58 MB/s transfer speed on my HDD. Its sufficient, especially at this price. Graphics- Nope, not up to the mark. AMD Dual graphics gives lower performance than using the card by itself, so there's no point boasting of its "dual graphics". And a 1GB NVidia gives better frame rates. Now, I dont expect to run Crysis 3 or sorts, but you do expect this laptop to run Tomb Raider and NFS The Run without lag at low settings, this thing cant even give that. Another awkward thing, gaming performance improves once you switch to battery or when you play at power saving setting rather than high performance. Odd, unexplained, unexpected, but true.. Been playing most games on battery. (LoL) Overall, the sole reason you thought you'd buy this product- gaming, is its only weak point. Its allright if you just want to manage the latest games at lowest possible settings, but high-end gaming isnt possible on this. However, this might be your best shot at gaming laptops if you're tight on budget. My recommendation, go for the 8GB RAM version. And if gaming is your sole purpose at this range, you might as well sacrifice the 1TB HDD for the extra RAM..

Great Product

Im extremely satisfied with the packing and the service provided by Flipkart. After using this laptop for a week, here is my review. The laptop looks great, its really slim. The weight isn't bad either. Keys look cheap and non-durable, Touchpad attracts oil stains, overall build of the laptop is great for something this cheap. The only problem I faced in this laptop is Heating, gets heated up pretty fast and other than this its absolute value for the money
