Good Latop to buy. Value for money compared to others.

Lenovo Diwali offer of additional 2 years of warranty + Flipkart Diwali offer of 5k cashback effectively reducing the cost to 36k makes this laptop superb value for money for me. Coming to the Laptop, I am pretty satisfied with the Laptop. The newer 4th generation laptops really stands out compared to the previous generations of processors especially in the Battery department. It do returns 5 hours of battery life under medium usage. Lack of external graphic card bundled may look disappointing. But the newer generation of processor comes with Intel HD 4600 which is a again a big improvement over Intel 4000 series. I am able to play most of medium graphic req games such as Fifa 14 etc very smoothly. Also the advantage of Intel HD 4600 is that it produces less heat compared to the external bundled graphic card. Thus improving the life span. Laptops are to be avoided for high gaming purpose IMO. External graphic cards on lappie produces lots of heat and unlike the desktop version, they dont have in build cooling system with it. Through a copper plate, heat is dissipated which is not as effective as the overhead fan. Therefore the laptops with graphic card have lower life and the graphic card is also not repairable. Reballing dont work. They are temporary solutions. U need to replace the motherboard which is costly. The Screen is not Anti-Glare which is fine for me. The screen is a finger print magnet. But again easy to swipe it off. The Color reproduction and the contrast levels is quite good. HD Movies are a joy to watch. The Dolby Advanced Audio really makes a differenece. U get a feeling of surround system audio from ur laptop which is really good for me. The Sound output levels is also quite good for me. KeyBoard layout is good. None of the keys makes any noise except for Space which is normal. Ergonomics is also good and I find enough support for my wrist while typing. The Touch Panel is multi touch. Which means u have enough gestures to make WIndows 8 features stand out. example two fingure swipe to switch over the apps. Laptop is very quite and cool. Enough after heavy prolong usage my laps dont find it discomforting. Regarding the processor, ram, hdd, The technical sheets speaks for itself. The laptop has an unused memory slot which means u can upgrade the memory very easily. All in all, I am very Satisfied with my investment. Its cheaper than the alternatives and I find it no way inferior to its competitors. Edit: The Laptop bag which comes with this laptop is very basic and inferior quality. Dumped it.

good laptop

i have ordered this laptop on 21th night and got it delivered on 23rd morning, the laptop is good, the only thing i'm missing is the anti glare display which most of the companies are giving, the packaging doesn't come with restoration cd's, but there is a recovery button besides power button, i could get it for far less than what others are offering in diwali sale, in my opinion this is the latest tech(4th gen i5) in 40k(36k after standard charters cashback).if you want a graphic card option be prepared to spend 6k more.other than that its a good buy. plus you have to register at lenovoservices.net for Accidental Damage Protection. it will cover your devices when you spill water accidentally or by dropping it in the water or ground.

Very Serious issues with Linux os

I recently purchased Lenovo G510 laptop. It works okay with Windows but i have terrible experiences with Ubuntu. The following problems are ther with Ubuntu OS on this model. System freezes very often when you download(Very often i mean every 5 minutes), to restore you have to completely power off. Bluetooth does not show up. Internet connection abruptly goes off though every setting is proper, to access internet you have to restart the machine again. Overall my experience with this model is if you intended to use Ubuntu or any Linux OS better not to go for this one. Thanks

Performance issue with windows 8, gets hang.. Dissappointing.

Day 1: I brought this laptop on 5th May, 2014, in the starting windows 8 OS was working really very fine. I started installing all the software. Default antivirus which they give is mcafee trial version. day 2: i tried installing avast without uninstalling mcafee. And all other necessary software i had installed. Then i realized that 2 antivirus might cause trouble. So i first uninstalled avast, then mcafee then again tried installing back avast. But this time avast didn't get installed properly,it was showing some error So i tried uninstalling it again but it wasn't even uninstalling it. So i tried restoring back everything. After restoring back, first uninstalled mcafee, then installed avast then other necessary softwares.I successfully uninstalled mcafee, then installed even avast, but after that when started installing other software it started taking long time. Day 3: It started hanging up, not even a single software i was able to install. Performance was very bad. was not able to shut down the system too. So the solution which i found was "change the OS itself". I Change it to windows 7 it works awesome. Good performance. Now the feel comes of i5 processor and 2.5GHz clock speed. You may find partition problem while installing windows 7. Windows 8 partitions goes as 425GB for C drive, 25GB for D drive and 50GB is for their system drivers software. Delete all those partitions, even OEM drivers, entire system clean, only then you can boot up with windows 7. By doing this the entire drivers gets cleaned up. And they have not given any drivers CD with the pack. Not a prob, go ahead. Google out the procedure to do booting with windows 7 (any version). Lot many solutions are available already for whatever problem you get during installation. After installing windows 7, go to lenovo website download all necessary driver softwares and install it. Keep a backup of all drivers for further usage. Then enjoy your windows 7 :) You can check out how big difference was there in the performance of this lappy with windows 8 and 7.
