value for money product

i recently purchased the netbook from the local market.. here is a quick looknnwhy i bought this product?ni must say that the price tag put by lenovo is quite tricky : because if you invest just 2-3k extra, you can get yourself an entry level laptop with a dual core processor. this is a very tempting option as you get upgraded to a laptop with little extra investment ;)nni bought a netbook because for me MOBILITY for was the key requirement. i am a student and need to carry the netbook frequently to the department. a heavy laptop is a big deterrent in this regard.also the battery standby of laptops is some 2-3 hours which makes it essential to carry an adapter along - the netbook promises a standby of 6+ hours (and has been actually delivering it)nnwhat are the plus points?nn1. ultra light : it weighs some 1+ kgs and is very convenient to carry along. The best feature overall!!!n2. ultra small : the overall size is compact and this adds to the portability featuren3. great battery backup : it has been delivering 6+ hrs of standby. very useful for people who do not want to carry an adapter aroundn4. genuine windows 7 starter is supplied along with the netbookn5. one key recovery is a very valuable feature put up by lenovo. helps to recover your system from a crash - almost efforlessly. it takes up some valuable hard drive space, but the feature is worth it.n6. quick start platform is a software platform (seperate from windows7) that helps you quickly access some key features like web surfing and playing media. the quick start platform boots up in 3-5 seconds and is very useful if you quickly want to access the web/play some media. it can be accessed by pressing the QS button located above the power buttonnVery innovative idea by Lenovonnwhat are the minus points?nnNone actually!!nIf you remember that this is a netbook and not an i3 laptop, you won't have any complains regarding the performance. i have been using this for basic tasks viznmicrosoft officensurfing the webnaccessing documentsnlistening to musicnnand havent faced any issue about performance. BUT if you want to play NFS or Arkham Asylum, this is not the system for you. Buy an i3 or i5 with a graphics card instead.nnWindows 7 starter lacks some key features. But you can always upgrade to higher versions of windows 7.nnnOverall i will give it 5/5. Lenovo systems have been enjoying a good reputation thanks to the good build quality of their products. So i preferred this brand over Acer/Hp etc.nnHope the review was helpful.Do take a demonstartion of the quick start feature before you go for other brands. You might change your decision.

A Critics Viewpoint... 45

I purchased this netbook nearly a month back. There are few key points I would want to share which can influence your decision to buy Netbooks. The importance of Optical Disc Driver: Lenovo provides a Recovery Disc software preinstalled which allows you to create a recovery Disc only one time. Its recommended that this is the first activity you should do before installing any software or update (as creating a recovery disc later might corrupt the process). It creates an image of the recovery in the disc which is approx 12 GB data (containing the Windows Starter OS and the Netbook drivers). So the catch is you have to take the recovery in DVDs which will become bootable and there is no DVD writer in Netbooks. I tried searching for the option of making a bootable 16 GB pen drive, but it wont allow you to do so. Your options: Attach an external DVD writer and load the DVDs and start the process. External DVD writers costs between 1.8k to 2.7k. And do take the recovery in a good DVD like Sony R DVDs. ? User interface of Windows 7 Starter: Its almost comparable to Windows 7 Series OS, but few things to look out are… there is no option to change Desktop Wallpapers and themes. You wont get the classy AERO them with transparent taskbars. Well in short it’s the basic windows 7 theme which you get without installing the graphic card. ? The touchpad is as usually a bit small, but that’s nt a very big deal as u can always us an external mouse which comes cheap and is more comfortable. Now the points that makes it worth buying: Firstly: Keyboard is a Joy: Its got the chiklet keyboard which makes typing an absolute joyful experience. The keys are well separated and quite isolated providing ease of typing for people with bigger fingers. Secondly: I watched the full HD (1080p) version of the movie 300, and it processed flawlessly proving the 1.6 Ghz processor to be more than sufficient for watching normal or HD movies. FYI I was running some office applications and browsing the net parallel to it. ? The Quick Start button (QS button) present just above the power button on the left side of the screen is an innovative option which allows you to boot windows when it totally crashes down. It comes with a pre-built recovery, which has been provided a separate partition on Hard disc (addition to the one you take in DVDs) that cant be accessed through My Computer. ? Its very light and handy to carry around with you. Just 1+ kgs. Verdict: Its almost the best choice if you are a student or ur priority is Surfing the net, watching movies, listening to music, working with Office and Adobe Acrobat or an interface for your tablet PCs, phones and iPods, and external Hard discs. But if your looking for playing games or executing average graphic oriented applications like Photoshop, 3D max or even games like NFS most wanted…This is not the stuff for you. You probably know what you want a buy. ;-)"

A perfect & cute companion to your college.

The university gave us this laptop and I must say it does its part well. * Ultra light. (~1 kg) * Great battery backup. (Yes! you can watch two movies at the power saver mode) * Great sound. * Good looking. :) * Its understood no one will play Battlefield 3 on it. :D A great deal if you want a cute little personal computer to carry along. Goes great!

Cute and Decent

The configuration is great. Best point is that it comes with Win7 starter pack. It comes with all basic s/w updated. Battery backup is good. Boot time and shut time is not very long, it is quite fast. From stand-by mode it wakes up just in 3-5 secs, which is cool. Overall, a great product for the price for requirements like presentations, on the move internet, on the move office works.

Reasonably priced Netbook with Atom Processor, genuine Win7.... it's an excellent buy for someone who just go in for the convenience and battery backup of a Netbook.. Always feels nice to carry a Lenovo ideapad at that price..
