Good Buy

I recently bought the IdeaPad U310 with a 3rd Gen i5 processor from a retail store for more than 10 grand cheaper than the listed price on flipkart. Guess was one of the last pieces and was put on sale (not display). As indicated by some reviews, I did carry out a check for its wifi related problems, which was my primary concern. Thankfully, I have not faced any issues. The wifi connectivity is the same in my house as I have for my MacBook Pro. Besides that, as one reviewer has written, it resembles the MacBook Pro a lot. I completely agree with it and given the identical 13.3 inch screen size and look it is certainly an attempt to copy the Pro. But from my perspective, if someone can successfully do that and still offer me a reasonable machine for half the price, I do not mind it. The outer body is matt finished and along with the aluminium finish it keeps fingerprints at bay, unlike a lot of glossy machines in the market. The laptop is giving me about five hours of battery life on standard usage with wifi. Since my usage is not heavy duty, the processing speed, RAM and space is adequate. However, the screen does leave a little to be desired as the colours are somewhat washed out when compared to the best in the market. For me the size and weight is great, though not like the Air, but certainly better than the 2.3-2.5 kgs machines with similar configuration in 15.5 inch screen. I am not very happy with the keypad. There is perceptible flexing of the keys on the pad and this tends to give it a somewhat flimsy feel. The ports are fine with a combination of USB 2.0 and 3.0. Tried playing a movie through HDMI on a TV and it worked just fine. The machine is quiet and remains cool, which is a positive. I also read about service issues in some feedbacks and was obviously worried. My only interaction with Lenovo has been for registration of the machine, for which I sent them the bill and serial number details. In about 48 hours, I have received a confirmation of the registration based on the date of purchase. So far so good. Overall, I feel it is certainly worth the price I paid for it. However, the price on flipkart...guess it would be a 50:50

Just Looks

Worst wireless connectivity, even if they claim they have fixed the issue with product manufactured after July 2012, its all false.... Lenovo India is not solving this problem. Search for u310 wifi issue and you can understand what's going on!

Over Priced!!

Clearly lenovo has got a hang of good sales, otherwise they wouldn't have priced it at 50K. Asus is offering the same stuff (even better actually!) at 41K. What does Lenovo India thinks of themselves..
