First, I would like to point out that I am in Mumbai. I got the AC delivered the very next day (28th June 2017) of the order placement. So that was great. Thanks to Amazon and Cloudtail for that. Now began the annoying part. I called LG, they said they will send someone on 29th June. Okay, so I wait. Nobody came on 29th. Called them, they said they couldn't send someone as it is raining. Okay, so I wait and call the next day, June 30th, and guess what, still nobody came. By the way, LG gave the request to some third-party associate (AC repair shop somewhere in Jogeshwari). In addition to that, every number given to contact this third-party LG associate was either1) Dead2) Forwarding to some dead end itself3) Didn't exist at all. Finally, thanks to a senior supervisor at LG, I got the number of someone that got through for once. This person said they'll send someone tomorrow (1st July). Okay, so two guys came on 1st July, in evening. I had asked LG on phone call about installation charges, and they had said 500 + additional charges if extra cables required, plus price of stand, etc. However, these two guys said to me "Our installation cost itself is 1500" + additional for the things I mentioned before. So beyond 2000-2500. And they were forcing me to get a stand despite me telling them that I would like to place it in the metal frame right outside my window, which is spacious enough. They kept forcing me to buy stand just so that they could charge extra for cables and stand. When I told them that this is a bit on the higher side, they said "Okay we can do it privately, and if the company calls, just tell them we charged standard rate". All this was happening in the name of LG. I did not really mind the delay of a few days, but this lying and saying that "I will do it in private" annoyed me like hell. Those guys hadn't come to install it on 1st July, they said they will do it on 3rd, by the way.So ultimately, I had to get it done from someone else who knew what they were doing. Did not cost more than a 1000. Sorry for going too long but I thought this is important to let you know from my experience.THE PRODUCT: It's really good, cools down a 10x12 room in under 20 minutes. It's even faster with the Himalaya Cool button on the remote control. So that basically sets the temperature to be 18C. Operates very silently. You can see the temperature in the room by pressing the "Room temperature" button on the remote supplied with this unit, which by the way, comes with a very handy remote holder. This is an inverter AC so I am expecting things to change because I bought this to replace a 10 year old window unit, which consumed 1.6 units an hour. I hope this will last long. And I also hope that maintenance calls with LG will not be nearly as irritating as my installation experience turned out to be. I will update this review after I have the energy bill for the month of July, just to give you the numbers precisely, and put to test the energy efficiency claims.UPDATE (12-Aug-2017) - I have used this AC for one full month as of now, and here are the findings. I have used it 2 and a half to 3 hours everyday, for all the 30 days. My bill for the last month was 3,000 (with 10 year old window AC used for 3 hours every night). So, after I removed that window AC and then used this Inverter AC for one full month, the current month's bill is Rs. 1,600. This is for a 2BHK home with daily 2 and a half hours of AC use along with 3 fans, washing machine, refrigerator, computer, etc. This AC uses roughly 0.4 to 0.5 units per hour for me. My old window AC used 1.6 units an hour (it had thermostat issues so compressor always remained on). All in all, this LG Inverter AC is excellent value for money and will save you a lot of money in the long run.UPDATE 2 (7th May, 2018): I am not in India at the time of this writing but my family has been enjoying this AC for nearly a year now. I have asked them several times how this product has been doing during our Skype chats. They say it's still good just like the day it was delivered. It has performed consistently great, no issues at all. Not a single maintenance call had to be made as of now, so far so good.A WORD ABOUT MAINTENANCE: This AC, just like any other split unit, requires care. Every 30 days or so of using it, please remove and clean filters, and if possible, keep a blower at home. This is to blow the dust out of the outer unit every month. If you keep maintaining it in this manner, it will prolong its life. To get to the tiny spaces in the unit inside, you might have to call AC service technicians. It's worth doing that every 3 or 4 months other than the steps mentioned in the beginning of this paragraph (blowing dust out of outer unit and cleaning filters), which you can do on your own.So that completes the entire (almost) year worth of review of this AC. If there is a newer model of this series, go ahead and buy that. Enjoy your summers with inverter ACs without making a hole in your wallet with electricity bills.
I bought dual inverter 1.5 ton LG AC last year. And bought 1 ton LG AC now. Excellent AC.
