I purchased this sturdy performer from Micromax for Rs. 9,700 from a local shop. I will not list its specifications which everyone knows (i.e. 1.3Ghz Quad Core, 1GB RAM etc.) I am here to tell you apart from decent specifications and a very good looking and sturdy phone, what you get EXTRA with this Canvas:nn1) Both SIM supports 3G. This feature is not listed anywhere. I only came to know about this after purchasing and using this phone.n2) USB OTG support. Again this feature is neither listed on flipkart nor anywhere else.n3) Notification Light (inside the earpiece grill). It glows red or green depending upon the type of notification.n4) Awesome camera performance. MMX phones are known for their poor cameras. But Canvas Colours is an exception. In day light, it captures brilliant images with its 8MP sensor. Images captured renders accurate colours and sharpness. Low light performance of camera and flash is also way better than any other Canvas series phone. Its flash really works in dark, just like Samsung phones. Front camera (2MP) also captures clear and bright images. Two thumbs up for MMX to improve their camera quality.n5) Gesture Controls. This phone supports Gesture Controls like - Proximity Answer Phone, Proximity Dial Phone, Proximity Unlock, Flip to Silent, Flip to turn Speaker Phone on etc. All these gesture controls uses its Proximity Sensor and this sensor works like a charm. In my last Canvas Phone, even after removing the phone from my ears, it takes 2-3 seconds to light up the screen but not in case of this phone. Proximity Sensor works in a fraction of seconds.n6) Great UI customization. MMX has customised Android 4.2.2 in a great way. The user interface looks neat and fresh with new icons and colour backgrounds. Notification Bar, Dialer, Widgets, In-Call screen graphics, Menu animations and Icons are the main customized areas. This phone has got i-phone like rectangular icons, which look great.n7) Excellent Call Quality. MMX is also known for poor call quality. All the MMX phones I used, had low volume in the earpiece due to which talking in a crowded place or public transport becomes painful. But this problem is thing of the past with this phone. You can hear crystal clear sound of the person on the other line even when you put the phone away from your ears.n7) Gamers Delight. I have played Temple Run 2, Temple Run Oz and Subway Surfers on my phone. These all ran without any lag. Graphics were super sharp. I viewed some reviews on Youtube, in which NFS - Most Wanted, Asphalt, Dead Trigger etc also ran smoothly.n8) Good Viewing Angles. 720p HD IPS display is super sharp and super bright and it provide better viewing angles also.n9) and of course TWO Free Yellow and Aqua Blue along with Black Back Panel. The free back panels are also like original quality. You cant differentiate between the original Black and extra Yellow and Blue Panels in terms of build Quality.nnAs you know, nothing in this world is perfect, this phone has also some drawbacks:n1) Poor Battery Life. Since it has Quad Core Processor and HD Display, both these feature consumes more power. Its 2000mah battery is inadequate to power this phone for the whole day. Battery percentage drops 1% in every 2-3 minutes while using this phone for surfing net or playing games.n2) Heating Problem. Its back gets heated while charging, playing games, surfing net or while in a call. Sometimes this heat is unbearable in the hand. I hope the Delhi incident dont get repeated with this phone in which a Canvas 2.2 (A114) bursted while in charging.n3) Low usable RAM. Despite having 1GB RAM, due to heavy customization of UI, this phone has less usable RAM. Out of 968 MB of RAM, anytime 550-600 MB gets used by its internal applications.nVERDICT:nCanvas Colours A120 is the ultimate choice if you are having a tight budget of around 9.5K. In this price range, there is not even a single competitor of this phone in any brand. If I have to sum up my review in one sentence, I would say, "If you want specifications of Samsung Grand2 at S-Duos2 price, Canvas2 Colours is the phone !!!
Bought it about 3 weeks back. Excellent phone overall. nnKey USPs - High resolution display, 1GB RAM.nnI wanted to share a tip with everyone who is evaluating this phone.nWhile it comes with a 2000 mAh battery, you can replace it with a 3000 mAh Micromax battery costing about Rs.450. Worth the extra battery juice to keep the phone running longer.
