Got this from a retail shop...the black one. It looks sexy I must say that. It doesn't look like some cheap netbook or an entry level notebook. The look is classy.nnPerformance is much better than I expected. In Energy Saving mode, the battery easily lasts 6-8 hours depending on usage. If you are only going to surf the Internet or work in MS Office in medium brightness, it can exceed 9 hours. Samsung laptops truly excel in battery life.nnYou can play HD videos thanks to the Radeon graphics...and do some light gaming.nnSound is quite good....and the screen is matte (not glossy) so you can easily see things even in sunlight. The power brick is really small and cute....not heavy or bulky as you get with other laptops.nnTIP: Better remove Norton and some unnecessary apps...it will speed up startup time & general performance. The resolution is quite high (1366x768) so things appear quite small...go to Control Panel>Appearance setting and set the magnification level at 125%...it makes a LOT of difference...things appear slightly bigger and it becomes a lot easier to READ anything...I use this laptop mainly for surfing, reading and word-processing so it matters.nnComes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office 2010 Starter edition. You also get a Windows 7 Home Basic Recovery DVD from Samsung.nnFor my college needs, its just perfect...and it looks classy.
I bought this notebook about a month ago. It is not a netbook. It performs well for all basic and medium applications. Try to upgrade the RAM to 4Gb. It costs an additional Rs.650 only. nnPros:nnIt multitasks very well because of the dual core processor.nNo heating issue. nSilent. nVery light. nBuild quality is very good.nHas got an HDMI port. nNice Island style keyboard.nGood Sound Quality.nWill get around six hours of backup in power saver mode.nReasonable price.nnCons:nnScreen flickering at certain times (Reported by others also)nTouch pad is annoying.nSpeaker volume is average (Though you cannot expect very high volume from such computers, I feel that it could have been better).nBattery is projected outwardly at the bottom (Though some people would prefer this to get an inclined position while typing, I don't like it).nnOver all, if you are looking for a light notebook which can handle basic and medium applications smoothly with a nice backup, go for this one. The cons can be overlooked.
This is just perfect for me. Browsing, music and playing videos - it's just right for that. Windows 7 might seem a tad slower. But very good. I installed ubuntu 12 as a parallel operating system. Works fast and easy and I use that more often. It's easy to install. There's a windows installer on the ubuntu page. nnPROSnOver a conventional 10.2 inch notebook - the 11.6 inch makes a significant difference. You can view most of an A4 Page or a webpage comfortably without having to scroll down.nnOS loads quickly.nnLooks cool and it's just the right size.nnKeyboard is nice and easy to type as you might have noticed with this long review. nnTo make it work right:nn1. Set magnification level at 125%n2. Increase RAM to 4GB from 2GB (though it's not important. Only if you are pedantic)n3. Uninstall eco mode and other samsung stuff except for maybe samsung control center and update center. n4. Change battery settings under power settings i.e. optimize it for high performance - that ensures it's not laggy under battery - since I use it mostly on battery and not on AC power. Just reduce the brightness to optimize battery.n5. Install Ubuntu :) n6. Mildly irritating.nnYou can only tilt the screen down a little bit. Like maybe 30-45 degrees. Can't do a 180 degree between the screen and the keyboard. I don't like this at all.
Nice product, I purchased from flipkart. Prompt delivery, got product in one piece. My son loved this product.nJust uninstall the unnecessary software and optimized it for best performance, increase the page file size and it work like charm.
