Its picture quality is amazing. Superb camera. Its not full HD but its 720p recording is very good. I think Its because of Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lenses which provide good pictures and recording. Main menu is also very easy to understand.
I've been using W630 for half a year. I took 6000+ pictures with it. Pros : 1) Carl Zeiss lens : Great for taking pics without flash under natural light. Sharp. Fast focusing and great output on low-light conditions. 2) Good contrast and saturation for images 3) Fast start up and good playback 4) 720p video. We can edit the white balance and exposure for video. Plus good fast focusing with stabilization. 5) Panorama mode : Sony's classic n unique feature. No other brand does it better than Sony. 6) Intelligent auto mode, Program mode and scene mode with good set of features. 7) Good battery life, 200-220 pics on full charge. More if u're not using very bright screen and flash all the time. 8) Good built quality. Looks solid and good material on the outside. Sleek and shining looks for this device makes it one good product. Cons: 1) No full manual mode. This is the biggest con. We can change ISO, exposure... but we can't change Shutter speed and APERTURE ! 2) Hard time focusing on people's faces. (Perfect for objects though :P) Canon wins there. 3) No background defocus options(which is so useful n found in higher models). 4) 'Zoom in' n 'zoom out' sounds recorded on video. Overall its a great camera. The only other camera which can compete with this one is Canon Powershot A3400 IS. It got touch screen(not a big +), more importantly we have a full manual mode on it. But Canon can't offer some unique features of Sony like Panorama, battery life.... etc. I would definitely recommend this product. I would rate it 4.5 out of 5.
