The Moto G5 and G5 Plus come with a fingerprint scanner at its front that can be used for quickly unlocking the device.But to hide or protect your apps I would suggest you use App lock.Heres how.
Now, whenever you open a locked application, you can either unlock it by simply verifying your fingerprint or by entering the unlock pattern. The fingerprints that you have registered for unlocking your device are the ones that will also work with App Lock.
Here is the video guide to do the same

There is no such option provided by Moto in their User Interface. However, if you want to record your calls, you can definitely go with some call recording apps that satisfy the feature. ACR Call Recorder would be my pick as it is lite, simplistic and user-friendly that helps in making any person understand its features and usage.

Motorola phones and other phones running stock android (Nexus, Pixel, etc) only support chrome-cast. You need to buy Chromecast to connect Moto G5 Plus with TV.
To chrome cast your device follow this steps-;
Set up the Chromecast app on your phone. Touch Apps Image > Settings > Display > Cast
Set the input on your TV to the HDMI port where Chromecast is connected.
Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your device. Touch Apps Image > Wi-Fi > enable Wi-Fi.
On the device, open Quick settings - swipe down twice from the status bar - and touch Cast. Touch the name of the Chromecast to use.

I think it is a problem in Moto G series phones for screen mirroring. It should be rooted to enable it. They disabled it because wifi and casting cannot be done at the same time because of hardware limitations.
Other mobiles which are able to do it must not have this hardware limitation (or inspite of this hardware limitation they would have enabled it). My Lenovo Vibe P1 detects the TV and does the screen mirroring (Cast Screen/Wireless Display in the menu) although speed and clarity is not that great.
What you can try is install Smart View from Samsung or Screen Stream Mirroring to cast/stream the media content from your mobile to the TV if your TV comes inbuilt with wifi (and some sort of content sharing feature). It cant exactly mirror your phone but play the media contents!
In my suggestion go for 10.Or G it has great specs and overall has great performance
