Flash Notifications are used to give Flash Alerts when you get a Call / SMS.

This feature is already there is most phones by going to:

    1. Settings > Accessibility > Hearing > Flash Alerts
    2. Toggle there to turn it ON/OFF.

This is really beneficial in alerting without making any sound.

    • Don't get dishearted if your phone does not have this feature. There are a number of apps available on Play Store.
    • I'll personally recommend you to use the app named Flash Notification available in play store. It is really easy to use and you can enable it for particular apps and for different sound profiles(Ring/Vibrate/DND).

Definitely, Nokia 8.1 is not waterproof. Though it has a non-removable back cover, still it is not waterproof. It may sustain a few splashes of water, but it will not withstand drop in water. IP67 or IP68 certification is not very easy to attain. All the ports, SIM stray and speakers need to be water proof and ensure no water penetrates. You need to be careful while using your phone,if it drops in water, you definitely needs to get new one.

You can simply reset your Android to factory settings through "Backup and Reset" feature available in settings.

However, this won't work if your phone has got hanged or you have forgotten the password.

Here is a Quick reference to hard reset your phone:

    1. Power off your phone (If the phone is hanged, directly perform the next step)
    2. Press and hold Volume Down and Power button to enter recovery mode. (Old phone might use home button as well)
    3. After the Android logo, you'll be presented by a menu.
    4. Select "Wipe Data/Factory reset" from the menu.
    5. Press the Power button to confirm.
    6. Scroll to "Yes" and confirm with Power button.
    7. This will start the Reset Process.

You can see the video to perform hard reset here:

At some time, you will get bored with the default brand tune on your phone and would like to have a trending or your favorite song as a ringtone. I got you.

You have the option to set the ringtone for all contacts and even for a selected contact.

    To do it:

Go to Settings >> Sound >> Phone Ringtone.

Click on Add/Select from phone option to get the music list.

Note: If your phone doesn't show up music files, you need to keep the fine in media folder from where it will automatically access and show on the list.

You also have the option to set the ringtone from your music application.

Try doing it, it's really very simple. Check the options when you are on your desired song.

You can also use one of the popular ringtone managers to get your work done. They also allow you to edit your audio files.

Get to know of free custom ringtones from here:

There might be some pictures or videos that you want to keep safe, so you have no worries while sharing your phone with others for a phone call or showing the selected pictures you took on your last trip.

You can hide sensitive pictures and video and just relax.
There are many ways of doing that.

    The Technical Way:
    • One way to hide pictures from showing up in your gallery is to change their extension.
    • You can do that by renaming them and putting something else than .jpg or .jpeg
    • These are the formats which your phone photo viewer understand as a picture.
    • Your pics are not hidden and still accessible through File manager, but they will surely not show up in the gallery.
    The Easiest way:
The easiest way to hide and unhide your pictures in bulk is to use a vault. There are a lot of applications available for hiding your pictures and videos. You can choose one from them:

My personal favorite is Vault as it allows you to hide SMS and take backups. You can also protect your applications with this.

    Know how to Vault:

The Nokia 8.1 does not have a removable battery. The non-removable battery helps the manufacturer create a sleek design, lightweight and good looking product. It also helps with recovering a stolen phone. A removable battery can be taken out by a thief to stop the phone from tracking its movement. You need to visit the customer care to get the battery replaced.

The Nokia 8.1 does not have a removable back cover. The non-removable back cover helps the manufacturer create a sleek design, lightweight and good looking product. It also helps with recovering a stolen phone, since the battery could not be removed. This is the reason the SIM slots are on the side these days. You can simply follow these steps to insert the SIM card:

    Switch off the Phone.
    1. Locate the SIM tray which is on either side of the phone.
    2. Open the sim tray using sim ejector tool.
    3. Carefully, place the SIM card in it.
    4. Close the tray and you are done.
