Instagram introduces limited-time Stranger Things fonts ahead of final season release

Highlights
  • Stranger Things season 5 will release in three parts on Netflix.
  • There is a new feature on Instagram Stories, Reels and Edits.
  • It will be available for a limited time only.

Ahead of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things’ final season, Instagram has released a new limited-time font set inspired by it. The update includes two themed text styles based on the series logo – a regular font and an outline version that can be applied in Stories, Reels and Instagram’s editing tools.

Users can also apply the show’s signature glowing-red text effect. After typing, tapping the font effects icon shows a ‘Stranger Things’ glow option that adds a neon aura around the text, mirroring the look used in the show’s opening sequence. The feature is designed to let fans post reactions, theories and tributes as the last season begins streaming.

The special edition fonts and glow effect are available globally between November 23rd and December 7th. The rollout also extends to Edits, Instagram’s standalone editing app, so that the effect can be used on templates and short-form video edits.

The update comes ahead of the final season’s staggered release. Stranger Things Season 5 will launch in three parts – Volume 1 comprising three episodes on November 26th i.e Thanksgiving Eve, Volume 2 with another three episodes on Christmas, December 25th, and the final episode on New Year’s Eve, i.e December 31st.

Instagram has not confirmed whether similar collaborations are planned for other franchises that are lined up for release in December, namely Emily in Paris, Meghan Markle’s lifestyle series, and more.
