Moto E5 Play spotted on official US website ahead of launch

“The Moto E5 Play is expected to feature a conventional 16:9 display with thick bezels on the top and bottom”

Lenovo-owned Motorola launched its Moto E4 smartphone last year and it seems like the company might be unveiling the handset’s successor soon, as the unannounced Moto E5 Play has now been spotted on the company’s official US website. Interestingly, the company launched a Plus variant for last year’s model but didn’t announce a Play version. However, popular tipster Evan Blass recently shared the alleged press renders of the Moto E5 Play, which is now expected to be the first Play smartphone in the E series.

As you can see in the image below, the search query for Moto E5 produced a single result that shows a document with title ‘Moto Actions – Moto e5 play’. While Moto Actions, a feature which allows users to perform various actions with the help of simple gestures, has been part of the company’s smartphone lineup for some time, this search result all but confirms the presence of the yet-to-be-announced Moto E5 Play. Inside the document, the company has merely explained how to change Moto Action settings on the Moto E5 Play.

In the press renders shared by Blass earlier, we could see the upcoming smartphone sporting a 16:9 display with wide bezels at top and bottom. Notably, the renders suggested that the Moto E5 Play might offer an LED flash with the front camera. Blass earlier revealed that the handset will be launched with Verizon and Cricket Wireless telcos in the US as the Moto E5 Cruise. As of now, no other details about the upcoming smartphone are known.

Interestingly, the clock widget in the renders was set to April 3rd, 2018, which leads us to speculate that the handset might be unveiled on the aforementioned date. However, as there is no official communication from the company regarding the product, we will advise you to take all these bits of information with a pinch of salt.
