“Your very first look at the upcoming Galaxy Note8”
The glowing reviews and the eventual success of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ (review) duo have helped eliminate the bad memories associated with the Note7 fiasco to some extent. However, as the direct successor, the upcoming Galaxy Note8 still needs to shoulder a lot of responsibility. A few details of the stylus-toting phablet have already leaked out, with the latest one indicating it will be priced at a whopping €999 and come out in September. We now bring you an exclusive look at its renders and 360-degree video in partnership with OnLeaks.

While Samsung is expected to board the dual-camera bandwagon with the upcoming Galaxy C10, the Note8 is also expected to sport this feature. As indicated by the renders, the Note8’s dual cameras will be configured horizontally, and in fact, come placed on a reasonably large camera bump. The tipped dimensions say the phablet will measure 162.4 x 74.5 x 8.4mm, and that thickness will go up to 9.5mm when the camera bump is included.
The renders also show a near bezel-less design, just like the S8 duo. The earpiece, front camera, and sensors can be seen up top, and features like the iris scanner and face unlock can be expected as well. The bottom of the device would have the USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headset socket, speaker, and a silo to house the S Pen stylus. At the rear, the camera bump would carry the dual lenses, along with a flash and a fingerprint scanner placed towards the right.
The display is tipped to be sized 6.3-inches, just marginally larger than the 6.2-inch screen on the Galaxy S8+. The Infinity display can be expected to be a Super AMOLED panel as usual, with at least 2K resolution. An old report even suggested that the Note8 could sport a 4K resolution display, but let’s not get our expectations too high for now. From what we can make out, the Note8 wouldn’t be as curvy as its S8 siblings, but distinct curves towards the edges can still be seen.
As far as the specs are concerned, we can expect the same Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 835 chipset that powers the S8 duo, mated to a beefy 6GB of RAM. The dual camera setup is tipped to include a pair of 12MP sensors, with independent optical image stabilisation, while the battery inside would be a 3,300mAh pack with fast charging and wireless charging features. Other expected features include split-screen multitasking, the ability to pin notes to the always-on screen, and DeX capabilities. While the renders show a unit in black, we an expect blue and gold hues as well.
So there you have it folks – the first real look at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note8. Thankfully, public memory is short, so we’re hoping Samsung would be able to put its Note7 troubles behind it by the time the Note8 launches, and come up with a compelling Note-series flagship yet again… the same way it has done so many times in the past.
