“The two new SD670 smartphones from Xiaomi have been reportedly codenamed Sirius and Comet”
Recently, Qualcomm was reported to be working on three new processors – Snapdragon 670, Snapdragon 640, and Snapdragon 460. The brand was expected to launch the SD670 in the second quarter of this year and if the new reports are to be believed, Xiaomi is already working on two smartphones equipped with the processor.
Xiaomi has (at least) 2 devices with the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 (sdm670) in the works: “comet” and “sirius”.
Also confirms @rquandt‘s report which showed sdm670’s little cluster has 6 cores and the big cluster has 2 cores. (targetconfig.xml in /vendor/etc/perf).
Reported by Mishaal Rahman, Editor-in-chief XDA Developers, it seems that Xiaomi is working on smartphones codenamed Sirius and Comet. Both these smartphones are expected to be powered by the SD670. It is being speculated that one of the two smartphones will be the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 4, on the grounds that the Mi Note 3 (first impressions) was powered by the Snapdragon 660. However, there is no speculation on the second smartphone yet. Further, the latest report reveals that the Snapdragon 670 will be an octa-core SoC with 2+6 CPU core arrangement.
To recap on the chipset, according to the previous leaks, the Snapdragon 670 will be crafted using a 10nm manufacturing process, as compared to the 14nm manufacturing process on Snapdragon 660. Further, the new processor is expected to come with four Kryo Gold cores with a clock speed of 2.00GHz and four Kryo 385 Silver cores clocked at 1.60GHz. It is also speculated to flaunt Adreno 620 GPU, the Snapdragon X16 LTE, and support for one 26MP rear camera or dual 13MP snappers.
Xiaomi is also set to launch an Helio P60-powered smartphone in Q2 this year, according to another report that came out earlier. We will bring you more details on these smartphones as and when they appear, stay tuned.
