Google announced Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on October 18th, 2011, which was swiftly followed by the release of the Galaxy Nexus a month later. Today we\'re approaching springtime in 2012 and yet Sony is only offering Android 2.3.7 on the Xperia S. Of course, Sony isn\'t alone in badly lagging the official OS launch date with actual ICS hardware, but that doesn\'t alter the fact that the company is shipping out a product with software that\'s...

Pros: Attractive, distinctive design High-definition display Strong camera performance Good voice clarity and reception

Cons: Ships with dated software Color banding may spoil display for some Still no good reason to care about PlayStation certification No microSD card slot or user-accessible battery

Update: We`ve taken a better look at the NFC capabilities of the Xperia S and played with the SmartWatch in a bit more depth - check out our findings. So Sony has paid Ericsson off with a nice little divorce settlement and is now single and ready to rock - and the result is the 12MP-camera, HD screen-toting Sony Xperia S. Obviously, it`s a line carried over from the Sony Ericsson era which saw the maker release an Xperia handset on what felt like...

Pros: Fantastic screen, NFC capability, High quality camera, Premium build, Large internal storage,

Cons: Easy to drop, No microSD slot, Slightly poor battery life, Fat chassis, Only Android 2.3,

Pros: Powerful and fast ; Good stills and full-HD video ; Decent media/app hubs

Cons: Mediocre design ; PlayStation bits disappoint ; No Ice Cream Sandwich
