First of all I bought this same model from Amazon at a much discounted price. Some of the things are listed about the laptop above which are false and are as follows- 1) Frequency should be 2.6Ghz which is of the i5 4210M. 2) The Wifi is 801.11N not "ac". Go for this laptop as the processor is exceptional for the price and te 940m can handle almost all games at 720p in low to medium settings. Consider upgrading the RAM(can be upto 16GB) for better performance. The touchpad provided has all features of that a high end laptop(including Microsoft Precision Certification). The keyboard although doesn't have the most pleasant experience of typing but don't expect too much for this price. The only trade-off you will make if you buy it is that it doesn't have a DVD drive.(and neither room for adding one). Upgrading this thing is also a bit hectic and tedious as you will have to undo almost 20 screws just to get to the HDD and RAM slots. I suggest to get it done at a certified ACER service center. OVERALL I highly insist on anyone who is looking for a super budget yet high performing device JUST BLINDLY GO FOR IT.
Had passed this over because of the mention of the CPU as a Core i5 4210U, which is rated from 1.7-2.7 GHz. Finally decided to buy it as there was an offer on another place which made this model incredibly cheap.nThe main reason for my buying this was to check out the usefulness of an FHD screen when working with documents and spreadsheets- as the smaller pixel pitch would enable more screen real estate in the same size (15.6") as compared to normal 1366*768 screens.nThe configuration that I received was-n1. Screen 15.6" FHD (1920*1080p)n2. CPU- Core i5 4210M (2.6-3.2 GHz)- YUMMY!n3. 4 GB DDR3-L RAMn4. nVidia GeForce 940M GPU with Optimus technology and dedicated 2 GB RAM (DDR3)n5. 53Wh battery (13V)n6. Charger with quite a heavy brick and lead cable.n7. Driver disk (Windows 8.1/10)n8. Some dummy Acer Linux.nnI'll cover the pros and con's rather than go over the entire laptop in sections.nnPROs-n1. The CPU- This has the Core i5 4210M, which rates from 800MHz to 2.6GHz (standard) with Turbo Boost of 3.1GHz (both cores) and 3.2GHz (single core). The top speed makes this one insanely fast. It can match any Core i7 (as the 1MB cache difference is the only major difference between this and an i7- I'll live with it). The CPU, though rated at 37W, actually seems to consume around 25W at full turbo (CPU package tracked using HWInfo). This means that a slight tweaking of the Windows 10 Power Plan Settings can give you a battery life of 4:30 hrs with Wifi and around 5:30hrs without wifi (DVD file playing). CPU is very cool on battery- the fan is still normally (at 23 deg C ambient, and basic apps running- Word, Excel, 1 browser tab, no videos).n2. Slim and light- It seems to weigh around 2.3kg, but looks quite svelte and doesn't seem heavy, owing to its sleek design.n3. Screen- the screen is a delight. Good color rendition, good contrast, excellent sharpness. In Word, you can see 2 full pages at 100%, and in Excel, you can see to Column AO at 75% zoom. This is more than 50% screen area as afforded by a normal 15.6' HD screen.n4. Chunky battery- 53Wh, gives good battery backup. Nice to see Acer not skimping on the battery. Many manufacturers compromise with weak batteries to avoid these models competing with the ultrabooks.n5. Touchpad- great design and good size. The driver has all the important options. Most importantly it doesn't come in the way while typing (perfectly aligned with the spacebar) and has an option to disable it automatically when a mouse is attached- this works even with a wireless mouse.n6. 3 USB ports (1 USB3 and 2 USB2)- see, however, Con No.1n7. DVD bay- no unnecessary DVD. Save cost and can attach a caddy. See however, Con No.2n8. Well ventilated. HDD is also optimally placed (to the right of the touchpad) so that it doesn't heat up a lot. See however, Con No.5)n9. Two RAM slotsn10. 1 TB HDD (see however, Con No.5)n11. Drivers and BIOS already up-to-date with September 2016 versions. How nice is that!nnCONs-n1. Keyboard- an Acer trademark- its a little mushy, with a lot of false feedback. If you strike decently, it won't be a problem. But its not for feather-touch typists, though it looks like one. However, it is decent for this price, with all controls comfortably placed- especially the Home/End and PgUp/PgDown keys. Unlike the modern trend, the arrow/home/end/pgup/pgdwn keys are not overlapped with multimedia function keys. The arrow keys are half-height, which is a pain.n2. Only 1 USB3 port!n3. While the DVD bay has a Sata connector for a DVD, you cannot easily attach an HDD caddy as the dummy insert does not have a removable cover which can be fitted on the caddy. As a result, the underside of the keyboard plate is exposed when you use a caddy. You can however, see if a replacement lid is available in the market.n4. Only 4GB RAM. No matter what anyone says about Windows 10, it needs more RAM as compared to Windows 7 when actually using programmes. You can upgrade reasonably well as there are 2 slots.n5. 1 TB HDD though extremely spacious and reasonably fast, doesn't hold a candle to either an SSD or an SSHD. Cold starts are very slow, taking over 90 seconds (compared to 15 s with an SSD). Also the placement of the HDD to the right of the touchpad means that its uncomfortably warm under your right palm (~10 deg C higher than ambient).n6. No user service panel. You need to open 18 screws at the bottom (out of which one is sealed with a Warranty seal). Then peel off the keyboard panel. Then remove 7 more screws and 4 cables inside to unlock the motherboard. The RAM is located toward the bottom panel. Fitting back the keyboard cable is a pain, a real pain. The rest is easy once you figure it out. The top panel clips break easily, but no sweat as the keyboard panel as a metal plate base, to which the 18 screws from the bottom are attached.
