Verdict

The Asus N55SL-S1050V is a powerful all-round notebook and is built for high end performance in every department. Features like Blu ray DVD combo, HD webcam, four USB ports, sound graphics plus terrific speakers, HD webcam and extra storage space make it a great deal. However, despite of spending so much, you will face troubles in terms of portability thanks to its heavy and chunky design.

Display and Design

 

The Asus N55SL-S1050V features a 15.6-inch HD LED backlit display with a typical WXGA resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. From the outside, the device appears to be extremely sophisticated thanks to its glossy metal frames, soft palm rest and piano glass cover. But it will pose huge problems if you plan to carry it due to its high thickness of 35.5mm and an equally imposing weight of 2.7kg. The glossy finish attracts fingerprints and scratches and needs care.

 

Processor and OS

 

Moving on to the inside, the laptop is powered by a mighty 2.2GHz Intel Core i7 processor from 2nd generation series and operating on HM65 Express chipset. Assisting it is a beastly 8GB DDR3 RAM which enables you to stay engrossed in movies while running a number of highly demanding tasks in the background. The laptop is embedded with 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M graphics card in order to keep you engrossed in lively games without any lag. It runs on 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

The stereo speakers powered by Asus SonicMaster technology and Bang and Olufsen ICE power ensure richer bass with greater impact.

Powered by a 6 cell Li-ion battery, the Asus N55SL-S1050V promises to provide continuous service for up to 3 hours. On the connectivity front, it sports WLAN, Bluetooth v3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 USB 2.0 slots, 2 USB 3.0 slots, HDMI out, VGA port and 3-in-1 card reader.
