Verdict

The Asus R510LAV-SB51 features an ample amount of RAM and a powerful processor which together output excellent performance. The battery backup is good. However, a dedicated GPU or Full HD display was clearly expected in this budget.

A great choice for daily usage

Display, Body Looks and Configuration

The Asus R510LAV-SB51 laptop flaunts a 15.6 HD LED-backlit display which outputs a screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. It is well designed in a silver coloured body measuring 381 x 251 x 30.4mm and weighs 2.31Kg. Driving the laptop is a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5-4210U processor aided by 6GB of DDR3 RAM and an onboard Intel HD 4400 graphics engine. The laptop boots on Windows 8 operating system floating upon 64-bit architecture.

Camera and Battery

There is a webcam present above the bezel which is a common feature in all laptops. It comes in handy for image clicking, video calling and recording needs. The video recording quality of the webcam is good. The laptop gets its energy from a 4 cell Li-ion battery which keeps the show running for long hours. 

Input Devices and Sound

A touchpad with multi-touch gestures support, a full-size island-style backlit keyboard with numeric keypad and a DVD writer are the input devices present in the Asus R510LAV-SB51. The stereo speakers (ASUS SonicMaster) output good quality sound wave, charming to the ears. 

Storage and Connectivity

In order to store data, the Asus R510LAV-SB51 houses a 1TB SATA hard disk which revolves at a speed of 5,400RPM. Networking options include a Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, one USB 3.0 slot, two USB 2.0 slots, an SD card reader, a headphone jack, a microphone jack and a VGA port.
