The Asus VivoBook S400CA-CA028H with its 14-inch screen and weighing in at just 1.83 kgs is an good alternative to those pricey ultrabooks. Although it might be heavy compares to an ultrabook and the battery life is not as good as the other ultrabooks out there, one must consider the price factor and the hardware one gets with the VivoBook. The VivoBook is lite , compact and comes with a powerful configuration and a decent battery life all of this at an affordable price tag.

Display and Design

The Asus VivoBook S400CA-CA028H is mostly made of metal except for some of the interior parts. The laptop lid has a beautiful brushed aluminum finish, the detailed look continues inside with silver aluminum interior. The 14-inch HD LED screen has a sharp resolution of 1366x768 pixel which looks quite sharp. The large touchpad comes with gesture support which is useful for smoother navigation.

Processor and OS

The Asus VivoBook comes installed with the 3rd generation powerful i7 processor with a base clock speed of 1.9 Ghz and a massive turbo boost up to 3.0 Ghz. With its multiple cores it is fairly easy to multitask on this laptop. And for a better overall user experience the Asus VivoBook comes pre-loaded with the Windows 8 64-bit operating system.

Camera, Storage, Multimedia

The laptop has a 0.3 MP HD camera which very useful for capturing groups images with the built in timer and for video chatting with friends and family over the internet. The laptop has a Hybrid drive system that comes with a 24 GB SSD which helps is a faster boot up time and wake up time , while the 500 GB hard drive can be used to store large files and software giving the user ample space for storage. The intel HD 4000 GPU enables the user to play 3D games and experience smoother HD video playback.

Connectivity and Battery

On the connectivity front the laptop comes with a variety of options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2xUSB (2.0), 1x USB (3.0), Multi card slot and HDMI port. A 3 cell battery while keeping the laptop lite and slim still is able to power it for about 4 hours.
