If you are looking for a laptop that doesn't cost much and has sound gaming efficiency, you can shortlist the ASUS X550CC-X0029D Ultrabook. It impresses with features like powerful CPU, dedicated NVIDIA graphics card and 750GB hard disk but has nothing much of an ultrabook.

Budget friendly gaming machine

Display and Design

The ASUS X550CC-X0029D Ultrabook features a 15.6-inch HD LED backlit display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. The anti glare coating on the top lets you view things clearly under bright light. It has a thickness of 31.7mm and a weight of 2.3kg, which are far from that of an ultrabook. 

Processor and OS

Doing duty under the hood is a 1.8GHz Intel Core i5 processor belonging to the third generation series and based on HM76 Express chipset. It is aided by a standard 4GB DDR3 RAM which is further expandable via two DIMM slots. It is devoid of any user friendly platform which is a bit disappointing considering its attractive hardware specs.

Camera, Storage and Multimedia

The ASUS X550CC-X0029D Ultrabook is armed with a webcam for handling online video calls. The 750GB SATA HDD operating at 7,200rpm provides greater space and superior response than standard hard disks. The SuperMulti DVD drive can be utilised for streaming media from disks.

The NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M graphics processor with dedicated 2GB DDR3 memory enables you to have fun with powerful games and videos smoothly. It has stereo speakers to account for your entertainment needs.

Battery and Connectivity

The ASUS X550CC-X0029D Ultrabook keeps the show running for a fair period of time with a 6 cell Li-ion battery. On the connectivity front, it gets Gigabit Ethernet, WLAN, Bluetooth v4.0, HDMI out, digital media reader, VGA port and one USB 3.0 slot.
