Thanks to flipkart and ws retail for delivering me the product without any damage this is my first laptop to buy via online nnAsus is a best company and trust worthy company guys never hesitate when buying a asus product but the thing is the more money you spend the money you can get. nnow to the product ngood laptop for browsing and watching movies this is the most cheapest laptop where you get a quad core processor and a genuine windows 8.1 full OEM version yes it is genuine activated my Microsoft i saw another customer complaining that no product key dude this is the OEM version manufacturer wont supply but you can find it by tune up utilities software to find your genuine key. nProcessor :- intel celeron quad core clocked @ 1.83ghz turbo boost upto 2.16 ghz yeah good processor for browsing movies medium level gaming and medium level applications can be handled easily buy this celeron dude cant expect more that this for a 18.5k lappy nRAM- Sorry to say Asus this is gonna be a big problem for people who dont have much knowledge about laptops. This is a entry level laptop so it has to be easy handling laptop but in this laptop its not that case. wait i'll explain you at the end of this paragraph. The manufacturer gives only 2gb ram which is never enough to handle stuff like windows 8.1 + antivirus and other stuffs so surely you need a ram upgrade 2gb is never enough. now coming to the problem there are two problems is this RAM story for this laptop. i'm a desktop laptop service engineer so it was quite easy for me to figure out the solution. this is a huge con for entry level lap nProblem 1:- you cant access the RAM so easily like you do in other entry level laptops to remove the ram you have to disassemble the whole damn laptop every part should be removed and finally you will find the RAM at the back side of the motherboard. in other words RAM is the last part of this laptop so u have to remove disassemble all the parts so u cant do this due to warranty void issues if u go to service center surely the RAM price will be higher than the other stores and there is a service charge being charged to upgrade RAM. In my case blah blah blah F**K the warranty i dont need it so i went crazy and disassemble the laptop the 3rd day itself :P but guys never disassemble your laptop only if you have experience remember you might damage any sensitive parts and void your warranty nnProblem 2 :- there are 2 ram slots(one used and one unused) Really ?? No you are wrong guys sorry to say there is only one RAM slot so you have to remove the existing 2gb ram and then only you can add another RAM so finally you have to sell that 2 Gb or install it on any other lap you have. n nNOTE: IF you are about to upgrade you RAM u need a DDR3L RAM ""L"" stands for low voltage ram this laptop supports only DDR3L ram @ 1.35volts Upgradable upto 8gb nOS : Windows 8.1 64bit wow a laptop for 18.5k and you get latest windows 8.1 thats nice nBattery : here is another con same like RAM the battery is also in-built so u have to tear apart the laptop till the last to access this laptop battery u have to disassemble the whole thing to see the batterynMan this entry level lappy is build like ultra-book standards only ultrabooks have inbuilt battery and RAM nDisplay :- 15.6 HD display yeah thats gooooooooodddddd :) nDesign :- LOVELY slim and sleek design weightless + stylish looking and the chicklet keyboard is a beauty and easy to type nGAMING :- For 2gb RAM installed you get 1gb of gaming graphics shared memory eventually if you increase your RAM you graphics memory will increase nnFar cry 3nbattlefield 2nsim citynGTA san andreasnNFS undercovernAshes Cricket 2009 nall these games works well in Low settings settings nOverall a good laptop if you just want to watch movies and for browsing but if u need more out of this laptop you must upgrade the RAM to atleast 4gigsn and forgot to say boot time is just 6seconds very fast laptop when resuming after sleep just 2 seconds ni've reduced one star due to those RAM issues nUpdated on 28.5.15 nfor those who face this problem which charging speed will be slower when battery capacity is above 60% here is the solution go to the official website download the bios update BIOS 210 file save it in a pendrive and update your BIOS those who dont know how to update the bios go watch in u-tube nOS BACKUP nu can backup WINDOWS 8.1 from this lappy and use it for recovery purpose when your harddrive gets damaged in future for this you need a software ASUS Backtracker which u can find in asus website,u can backup only using a pendrive 16gb u can also backup your Drivers using seperate 8gb pendrive
One needs to sit perfectly in front of the screen or you will lose it, the viewing angles are as bad as it can get, its slow.nThe colors are not vibrant and vivid..just 2 USB ports Asus u gotta be kidding for a person like me who loves to attach USB devices , this kills the joy, nThe quad core handles multitasking poorly..one has to go through small periods of lags every now and than .nAverage build quality ; infact its as average as it can get..the only saving grace is that it come with windows 8.1 preinstalled .nand some kind of mcafee anti virus.nI don't like it ..its meant for very basic and I mean very basic usage.nI wanted to use Linux and it took me quite a while to tweak the BIOs and boot through usb..linux works well via thumb drive.nThis like most modern system is a secure boot sytem and you will need to disable it .nThe wifi drops 2 -3 times in a day..im still not sure why and does not auto connect at times.nThe cam is vga and very ordinarynThe usb ports seem too weak im a bit scared to use them again and again.nOne of them is the new usb 3.0 version.nThe touchpad is smooth and nice.nKeys on the keyboard seem fragile. The center of the keyboard slightly convex and fluffy.nIt has a regular hdmi port and port for monitor , even a lan port or RJ45 port.nhas bluetooth that works fine.nThere is a lot of asus bloatware and its better to buy a plain dos system and than install your OS.nI suggest you guys spend some more money and go for a lappy around 25k.
