The ASUS ZenFone Max is a battery-centric smartphone which doesn t cut too many cornersFeb 11 2016 By Deeksha Koli
The ASUS ZenFone Max pretty much justifies what we said about it in our first impressions… it’s potent enough to be mainstream despite being battery-focussed. Yet, let’s first talk about the competition it faces. The Lenovo Vibe P1m (first impressions) and the Acer Liquid Z630S both feature smaller 4,000mAh batteries, and are priced in the same range. While the ZenFone Max beats the Vibe P1m in almost all specs, the Acer Liquid Z630S boasts a better processor and RAM on paper. Nonetheless, the ZenFone Max is hands down the best battery-centric smartphone you can get under Rs 10,000. If you’re looking for an all-rounder, spending Rs 1,000 more can get you the LeEco Le 1s (review), which offers almost everything you might need from a smartphone, while looking stylish. Even the new Lenovo VIBE K4 Note (review), which comes with a price tag of Rs 11,999, scores in almost all the departments. However, you might want to note that despite the fact that the K4 Note sports an octa-core processor, and the ZenFone Max features a quad-core one, processing on the latter is smoother. So the gist of it would be that going for the ASUS ZenFone Max makes sense only if you absolutely require amazing battery life.
I WOULD LIKE YOU TO INFORM THAT I HAVE BROUGHT AN ASUS ZENFONE MAX MODEL ASUS ZO1OD FROM FLIPKART.MY MAIN MOTIVE BEHIND BUYING THE PHONES WAS ITS 5000 MAH BATTERY WHICH AS CLAIMED BY YOU WAS ABOUT TO RUN 2.5 DAYS JUST ON A SINGLE CHARGE WITH MID LEVEL USES.SO I HAVE BEEN USING THIS PHONE SINCE THEN BUT I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH CERTAIN ISSUES WHICH I AM TRYING TO PUT FORWARD TO YOU HERE. nFIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT A GAMER OR A SOCIAL APP USER LIKE WHATSAPP OR FACEBOOK.I JUST NEED THE PHONE FOR INTERNET BROWSING THROUGH UC BROWSER OR GOOGLE CHROME AND FOR PLAYING VIDEOS AND SONGS.AS I WANT TO HAVE A GOOD BATTERY ENDURANCE SO I HAVE CUSTOMISE MY SETTINGS AS SUCH:- nPOWER SAVER MODE ACTIVATED nWIFI OFF nBLUETOOTH OFF nGPS OFF nFLASH LIGHT OFF nHOTSPOT OFF nAuto-Sync OFF nBRIGHTNESS LEVEL LOWEST(DARK) nZEN MOTION - all apps off nAutomatic updates off nNO CLOUD SYNCHRONIZATION nAUTO START MANAGER:- ALL APPS ARE DENIED PERMISSION nnBACKGROUND PROCESSING APPS:-Apps like us browser, google play, google services, maps are restricted. nCertain apps like google drive, google play movies, google play music, hang out, mini movies, music and zen circle are disabled. nnSO IN SPITE OF SUCH STRICT POWER SAVER SETTING I AM VERY MUCH UPSET TO INFORM YOU THAT I AM NOT GETTING AN EXPECTED BATTERY PERFORMANCE.IT QUICKLY DEGRADES FROM 100% TO 90% IN JUST 25 MINUTES AND TO 20% WITH 3.5 HOURS USAGE.BESIDES THE DEVICE USE TO HEAT UP JUST ON 20 MINUTES OF BROWSING OR VIDEO PLAYING.n I AM ALSO USING A HTC DESIRE 826 WITH 2600 MAH BATTERY.EVEN AFTER 8 MONTHS OF USAGE IT IS GIVING ME A DECENT BATTERY LIFE.WITH THE SAME CUSTOMISED SETTING IN MY HTC DESIRE I CAN BROWSE UP TO 5.5 HOURS OR PLAY VIDEOS UP TO 6-7 HOURS WITH A SINGLE CHARGE.nSO FIRSTLY MY QUESTION IS IF A 2600 MAH BATTERY CAN BEAT A 5000 MAH BATTERY THEN THERE MUST BE SOME FAULT IN YOUR HANDSET OR THE BATTERY.MOREOVER I COULDN'T FIND ANY IMPRINT OF 5000 MAH ANYWHERE NEITHER ON THE PRODUCT NOR ON THE CARRYING BOX WHICH IS QUITE DISGUSTING. n KEEPING ALL THESE IN VIEW I WOULD REQUEST YOU TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER WITH UTMOST SERIOUSNESS AND REPLACE ME THE PRODUCT.nnnUPDATE:-AS PER MY REQUEST FLIPKART REPLACED ME THE HANDSET BUT TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT NOTHING IS DIFFERENT WITH THIS NEW ONE TOO.I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM i.e. PHONE EXTREMELY HEATED AFTER 20 MINS INTERNET BROWSING..AFTER THAT IT GETS HANG AND LAG BEHIND..BATTERY STARTS DRAINING FAST..BESIDES THE BATTERY CAPACITY IS JUST 2000 MAH INSTEAD OF 5000 MAH..
