Verdict

Don't go by the price of Dell Vostro 1450 as it has many interesting features to explore. While a good processor makes business easy, there is a powerful webcam guaranteeing high resolution video calls. It has a decent battery and a optical drive as well. The poor RAM can be easily accepted considering the price.

Display and Design

 

The Dell Vostro 1450 exhibits a 14-inch HD WLED backlit display which appears sharp with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and better than the usual LED backlit panels. With the matte finish, the Anti Glare display gives a comfortable visibility for a long period of time by preventing too much reflective rays.

 

It is housed in a 34.7mm thick London slate grey colored casing which definitely looks a bit chunky but is extremely robust. It doesn’t have much weight (only 2.19kg) as well.

 

CPU and OS

 

The laptop executes all kinds of processes quite proficiently thanks to the 2nd generation Intel Core i3 processor sprinting at 2.1GHz and loaded on the HM65 Express chipset. The CPU is assisted by a mere 2GB DDR3 RAM which makes the device a bit slow. You can increase the RAM’s memory up to 8GB for better response. It manages graphics with the built in Intel HD 3000 GPU. It runs on a complex Linux OS.

 

Camera, Storage and Multimedia

 

The Dell Vostro 1450 scores well with its 1.3MP webcam coupled with a digital microphone ensuring comfortable video calls. The 2.5 inch 500GB SATA HDD accounts for the storage purposes of the user. You also have the DVD RW Drive to playback files and create new ones on disks. It has a spill resistant keyboard and a touchpad as input options. The notebook houses two 2W stereo speakers to deliver HD Audio solution.

 

Battery and Connectivity

 

With a 6 cell Li-ion battery, the Dell Vostro 1450 promises to provide up to 3 hours of uninterrupted service. On the connectivity front, it features gigabit Ethernet LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth v3.0, 3 USB 2.0 slots, HDMI out, digital media reader and VGA port.
