The Dell Inspiron 15R is an entry level multimedia laptop at an affordable price. With the on-board hardware configuration, one can expect some decent performance from this laptop like photo and video editing, smooth HD video playback, or even some casual gaming. Lack of a dedicated graphics card might come as a disappointment, but considering the long battery life, sturdy and stylish body, good media support and the assurance of Dell, the 15R is an excellent laptop for its price.

Display and Design

The Dell Inspiron 15R looks stylish with its brushed aluminum finish and rounded corners, also to add to the style you can choose a color that suits you best between silver, blue and red. The 15-inch HD LED screen comes with a native resolution of 1.366 x 768 pixels for sharp picture quality and vivid colors. The laptop comes with a full sized keyboard with soft keys which return a tactile feedback resulting in accurate typing. The large sized touchpad has multi-touch gesture support.

Processor and OS

The Inspiron 15R comes with a 1.7GHz 3rd generation i5 processor with turbo boost technology up to 2.6 GHz, coupled with 4GB RAM. The Integrated Intel HD 4000 GPU takes care of the graphic rendering. The device comes pre-installed with the Linux operating system, which is light on the hardware. However, you may upgrade to any OS of your choice if Linux is not your thing.

Camera, Storage, Multimedia

The 15R has an integrated 1MP camera with HD video and image capturing capabilities, the webcam is excellent for video chatting. The 500GB hard drive takes care of the storage. With the built-in DVD player and the stereo speakers, the user can enjoy HD videos and movies on the 15-inch display with the 16:9 wide screen views.

Connectivity and Battery

The Dell Inspiron 15R comes with different connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0, Multi card slot and HDMI port. The 4 cell Li-ion battery gives this laptop 6 to 7 hours of battery life.
