Three friends from Delhi go missing in a small village - Jhanjhar, in Bihar. It's 2 months and there is no clue about their disappearance. The media and students movement demand action from the authorities. It's then that the government orders a Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry with officers Sidhant Chaturvedi (Akshaye Khanna) and Pratap Kumar (Ajay Devgn) to solve the case.

The film was Priyadarshan's return to serious films but didn't do well. It also marked the comeback of Ajay and Akshaye together after Deewangee(2002).
Paresh Rawal played a villain in this film and RANN in the same year after a hiatus.
This movie is a scene-by-scene copy of 1988 Hollywood movie Mississippi Burning.
The film was previously titled " Nishaad".
Ajay and Akshaye Khanna worked 8 years after Deewangee together and stangely Akshaye had a similar wig too.
