Action Point

The film is loosely inspired on the now defunct Action Park in Vernon, New Jersey that first opened in 1979. The park was considered by many to be one of the most dangerous theme parks in the United States. At least six people were known to have died as a result of incidents that occurred within the original park. The park closed in 1996 and later reopened, under new ownership, as Mountain Creek. After yet another ownership change, the park briefly changed its name back to Action Park for the 2014 and 2015 seasons before reverting back to Mountain Creek in 2016, in order to disassociate itself from the former park's infamous reputation. The real park is the subject of the documentary Class Action Park (2020).

Johnny Knoxville's eyeball popped out of its socket twice after he was injured while shooting a scene on the alpine slide.

Johnny Knoxville did his own stunts while filming, which caused him to go to the emergency room multiple times within fourteen weeks.

Johnny Knoxville claims to have sustained more injuries from filming Action Point than any other movie of his career. These injuries included four concussions, a broken hand, a damaged meniscus, whiplash, stitches, and the loss of some teeth. The Alpine Slide stunt even caused his eyeball to pop out from its socket on two occasions, due to the disappearance of his orbital lamina on impact.

At some point, Boogie (Eleanor Worthington-Cox) is wearing a shirt that says 'Teenage Kicks'. This is a reference to a song by The Undertones. The song is featured in this movie, as well as in the Jackass TV-show, during the High Dive 2 stunts.
