TRIVIA

Trivia

The movie is an unofficial biopic of the life of Céline Dion, here called Aline Dieu. Dion's husband and manager, René Angélil, is called Guy-Claude Kamar in this movie.

During the promotion of her last movie, Marie-Francine (2017), Valérie Lemercier spontaneously and half-jokingly said on the radio that her next movie would be about Céline Dion. Her production designer, Emmanuelle Duplay, then enthusiastically called her to be part of the movie, which pushed Lemercier to move forward on the project.

While Valérie Lemercier herself is not from Québec, she wanted the movie to feel as authentic as possible, which is why the rest of the cast is Québécois.

Valérie Lemercier began writing the movie alone, as a proper biopic. When Brigitte Buc, with whom she wrote Palais royal! (2005), came along, she convinced Lemercier to change the names, which liberated Lemercier, and gave her the freedom to steer away from facts and invent scenes, like the engagement ring hidden in an ice cream, or the old shoes Aline's mother lends her when meeting the producer.

Valérie Lemercier is not the singing voice of Aline in the movie. She is dubbed by Victoria Sio, revealed in the French musical "Le roi soleil".
