Upon the films release in Tennessee (the movie's setting) elementary students were given a special showing of the film along with a blow-up set of Annabelle's antlers and a visit from Santa.
This is the second Christmas movie that Cloris Leachman (Aunt Agnes) and Jim Varney (Mr. Gus Holder) have been in; the first one with Leachman being Prancer (1989) as Mrs. McFarland and the first one with Varney being Ernest Saves Christmas (1988) as Ernest P. Worrell.
"Star: Come on inside honey. Young Annabelle: But I wanna go with them! I want to fly too! Star: Well, you'll have to ask Santa about that. Young Annabelle: Is he coming back? Star: Yes - next year. Young Annabelle: Good, then I'll wait right here! [she sits down in the snow] Ears: Er, you know, a year, is a very, very long time, young lady. Maybe - you'd better wait inside the barn. At least that's my opinion."
"[talking about the bullies Bucky and Buster] Emily: I hope Santa has nothing but dolls when he gets to their house. [Billy nods, then suddenly looks shocked] Emily: Well he's gotta leave them *something*."
