In Ashes on a road trip (Karkhanisanchi Waari), the Karkhanis family is the last joint family in Pune. When the eldest brother, Purushottam passes away, it is his last wish that his ashes be scattered in 3 different locations - the ancestral house, the family farm and the Chandrabhaga river in Pandharpur. He leaves an envelope for the family, which is to be opened post the dispersion of his ashes.

Ashes on a road trip (Karkhanisanchi Waari) had its World Premiere at the prestigious 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival
The film's post production was completed against much odds during the lockdown in India, Maharashtra from April - September 2020.
The film's finale was shot in Pandharpur. Parts of the finale were shot during the actual Pandharpur Waari (religious pilgrimage) amidst 2.5 million devotees to bring authenticity to the narrative. Remaining portions of the finale were shot with 1500 junior artists.
The film was one of the 26 films chosen as part of the NFDC Film Bazaar Selects, 2019.
