Originally scheduled for release in its home country (Malaysia) on 30 January 2014 (Chinese New Year), but the film ended up being banned by Malaysian Film Censorship Board (LPF), objected to 31 plot points which amounted to 90% of the film's content.

After a 5 Year-Ban, the film finally received official approval from Malaysian Film Censorship Board (LPF) on 12 February 2019. The film was screened nationwide on its home country (Malaysia) on 28 February 2019 with some changes and new title, "Banglasia 2.0".
