Intended for release in 2009, before the recession caused the animation studio to shut down. Production was moved to another studio when it restarted in 2014.

Tony Bancroft was originally slated to the direct the film, and directed the final storyboards and production design in 2008. Bancroft left the project in 2014, but is still credited as the director of the film.

Originally developed in 2001 as a television movie, then promoted up to a full length live-action and CGI hybrid film to be directed by Jim Rygiel in 2003, before becoming a fully animated feature in 2006.

This movie has Tony Bancroft credited as director on the version of the film presented on Google Play, and Louis Ross credited as director on the theatrical version and publicity materials. Tony left the project in 2014, before production began. Louis never worked on the film. The actual director and producer are not credited.
