Although playing an Egyptian, Alexander Siddig hails from Sudan (although his mother is English).

Won the Best Canadian Feature Film Award at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

Ruba Nadda had written the role of Tariq for Alexander Siddig.

During filming, the crew was warned off from a certain location in the city, due to its very Islamic population. The director decided to go anyway, and the day was spent mingling with people. She later called it 'one of the best days of her life'.

Director Ruba Nadda was almost arrested by Egyptian police shooting 2nd unit with her DP and 2nd unit crew.
