The "stockings" scene between Julie Smith and Taimie Hannum was filmed as an off-the-cuff "pick-up" on the set of The Witches of Breastwick (2005) during a break in production. Director Whiteacre stopped by to visit the remote location, and, having wanted to work with cinematographer Franco N. Ciccio for some time, prevailed upon CGW's star Hannum, its sound recordist Ball, and old friend Smith to do a scene while Breastwick's cast and crew waited for nightfall on its last day of production.
The very same candle burns somewhere in the background of nearly every love scene, as well as the comedic "stockings" dialogue scene (where it actually gets its own close-up). The candle became the director's good luck charm, and was re-used in several subsequent productions.
Was filmed in part at a home once owned by Marilyn Monroe.
"Taimie: Listen, I have a friend? She's what would be called in certain circles, a matchmaker. Like in "Hello Dolly". Amanda: Is that the one where she dressed like a boy and studied the Torah?"
