As for the film, Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu is another story of corrupt Indian politics brought to its knees by a single man, in this case Pawan Kalyan's Rambabu. When Rambabu is spotted defusing a potential riot he becomes something of a folk hero in Andhra Pradesh, and Cameraman Ganga (Tamannah), a newswoman eager to climb the corporate ladder, decides to take advantage of his new celebrity by bringing him on as an investigative reporter of sorts at her TV station. There is tension, suspense, a love triangle, murder, and numerous fights and songs, and it all adds up to what seems to be an above average masala film, and a return to form for director Puri Jagannadh.

It was originally planned to shoot climax scene with real life Pawan fans, but due to bad weather it was postponed, and finally filmed indoors in a set resembling that of a media office, that was erected at Saradhi studios for 3 corers.
Pawan Kalyan has previously worked with Puri Jagannath in 'Badri,' which also was Puri's debut movie. Initially movies like Idiot, 'Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi', 'Pokiri', 'Golimaar' were planned to be made with Pawan Kalyan and there were constant reports of them working together, but none eventually panned out. Finally, they collaborated again in this movie, which is Puri's 25th.
On the second day after the movie was released, there were several protests by Telangana supporters against objectionable scenes which they claimed hurt their sentiments, and allegedly belittling the pro-Telangana movement, Consequently, the screening of the film was stopped in many theaters across Telangana region. As the controversy surrounding objectionable scenes in the film continued to affect its screening in several Telangana districts, a committee constituted by the Government recommended cuts and modifications of nine scenes.
