TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The idea to hide various weapons in Coffy's afro came from Pam Grier.

Shot in 18 days.

American-International Pictures lost the chance to make Cleopatra Jones (1973) and made this film instead, which ended up grossing more money in spite of a smaller budget.

When asked about why she chose to do so many nude scenes in this and other films, Pam Grier. said, "Being nude in those movies, I was trying to help men understand. Society created this mystery about the vagina, the breasts. When you create a mystery, people want to see it and attack it if they can't have it. So I was like, 'Here's the mystery. I hope I bore you and you'll never get a hard-on again'."

The surprising success of this film forced American-International Pictures to fast-track Pam Grier's next picture, Foxy Brown (1974), which it released 11 months later. The studio then quickly followed-up with Friday Foster (1975) and 'Sheba, Baby' (1975).

Coffy: Now I'm gonna give you another slice to match the one you got from that dope-pushin' pimp, unless you tell me where he keeps the stuff! Priscilla: No, please! He'll kill me! Ow... ALRIGHT, alright! He's got a fireplace! It's in a box under the ashes! [Priscilla's tough-looking black lesbian lover/pimp returns suddenly] Priscilla: Harriet! Harriet! Harriet: What the hell is going on here? Priscilla: She busted in here tryin' to make me! Get her outta here! Harriet: Come on, bitch!
