The doctor that Nick visits is Dr. H. West, a probable reference to H.P. Lovecraft's "Herbert West-Reanimator." H.P. Lovecraft was also responsible for writing other Gothic works such as Call of Cthulhu which were inspirations to Cradle of Filth.
