Due to the controversy surrounding the film, it never received a Blu-Ray release date in the U.S.
The Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council banned this film from airing in Turkey prior to its release. They also requested Netflix to remove the film from their platform.
It was discovered in October 2021 that Netflix actively tried to remove the film from trending lists and search suggestions in order to curve the controversy surrounding it. Also, YouTube no longer auto-suggests the film's title if searched for the trailer. The full title of the film has to be written in order to get results. Several clips of the film shared by the viewers were also removed from the platform.
A child psychologist was hired to supervise the child actors on set, so as to provide them guidance and help them understand what they were filming.
The film was shortlisted for France's official submission to the 93rd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Feature. However, the film didn't end up nominated. This is the second time a European film had been denied nomination in the Oscars due to its surrounding controversies. In 1987, a Norwegian film named Ice Palace (1987) was submitted to the MPAA by Norway for the 61st Academy Awards, but was rejected. Like Cuties, the film was also mired in controversies due to the several full-frontal nude scenes of its underage actresses. However, it was received well among critics and subsequent audiences alike.
