TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Screenwriter J.D. Feigelson went to Texas and recorded the sounds of cicadas so they could be used in the film.

Screenwriter J.D. Feigelson saw the name Otis P. Hazelrigg on a sign and liked it so much that he used it for the film's main character.

Hazelrigg is never seen wearing anything but his Postal Service uniform throughout the entire film.

Originally conceived as a theatrical film, it went directly to television instead, premiering on CBS just before Halloween 1981.

Charles Durning did most of his own stunts in the film's climactic chase scene when he was running away from the tractor. A double can be seen in a few shots with darker hair.

Popular Dialogues

"Bubba Ritter: [about Marylee being attacked] Bubba didn't do it."

"Otis P. Hazelrigg: Bubba didn't tell you that, Bubba didn't tell you anything. Bubba's dead. Marylee Williams: I know."
