Rotten TomatoesDear David is an ambitious teenage drama that has premiered on Netflix recently. But, much like most other options in its genre, the movie is plagued with a ton of cliched sequences and dialogues that make it redundant among the plethora of great watches on the platform. The movie is about the life of a super studious girl in high school who is going about her life when everything hits the fan as her risque fantasy blog about her crush is leaked to everyone in her school. Overnight, her life changes for the worse and she is now in the limelight, something she hates. While the plot is refreshing and modern, the sequences are largely borrowed from teenage comedy hits from the yesteryears. The plot is thus quite predictable and takes the fun out of original viewing that one might expect from this movie. All in all, if you want to watch a rare Indonesian original movie, go for it, otherwise probably better to skip.
