In his minimalist Indian drama "Declaration," director Mahesh Narayanan examines the frail male ego against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie, which is set in the dead of winter, follows married couple Hareesh (Kunchacko Boban) and Reshmi (Divya Prabha) as they carry out their respective responsibilities as drivers and product testers at a factory that makes medical latex gloves in India's National Capital Region. Boban has no qualms about playing an increasingly unlikable and conflicted role as he becomes persuaded that his wife is the lady in the video, unlike other Indian cinema industries where star-produced films are frequently used as platforms to enhance an actor's reputation. Despite being just as conflicted as her husband and possessing her fair share of human frailty, Prabha's character is depicted as ethically superior to his, giving her the more sympathetic part in this. The film's portrayal of a vein of corruption draws attention to Hareesh's moral dilemma.
