The Covid-19 pandemic avoided the planned shooting of scenes in the main cities of Europe where the main characters travel to. Therefore, they had to shoot the whole film in Bilbao, Spain, that had to double for places such as Paris or Prague among others. A mixture of previously shot images (such as exteriors of train stations) and chroma key was used to establish the characters as reaching their destinations.
All the Romanian family that Costa, Roge and Pepo meet in Transilvania is played by the actor Aarón Gómez. It pays tribute to The Nutty Professor (1996), where Eddie Murphy played all the Klump family.
