Dhaakad (UA)

In the middle of an action scene, Special Agent Agni, played by Kangana Ranaut, states, "Jism se ruh alag karna business hai mera." That statement encapsulates Kangana's goals in Razneesh Razy Ghai's Dhaakad very well. She is a fearless field officer for the International Task Force, a made-up department of the Indian government. Her goal is to put an end to a global human trafficking ring that originated in the coal mines of central India. Her duties include gathering information, identifying the players, and getting rid of them. In the end, she owes Rudraveer, the head of this network that works out of coal mines in central India, a personal debt that she cannot ignore. Despite the director's best efforts, she falls far short of her goal of creating a woman-led action movie without any romantic asides to veer off into. His keener attention to plot elements, as the co-writer of the movie suffering from a severe Quentin Tarantino hangover, might have truly enhanced the film. Additionally, underusing players in little parts, such as Sharib Hashmi and Saswata Chatterjee, hurts. Overall, it would have been fantastic if the plot had been as strong as the excellent action and stunning aesthetics.
