Upon completion, the project was originally titled Black Lines Across Blue Bodies in reference to its baroque lighting scheme and extensive use of CTB. The title was selected by its producers as it sounded abstract enough; "black lines" being ambiguous, and the color blue having a historic association with salacious material. This title was rejected by the distributor on account of a more direct marketing decision.
The projects script (which was somewhat different) was inspired by the myth of Persephone's abduction by Hades - with the recondite Regardie doubling as Pluto, confined to an oblique world of night and shadow - and also Reichian speculation.
The name "Michael Regardie" was inspired by infamous Kaballist, and colleague of Aleister Crowley, Israel Regardie.
