Rachel Covey (who played Morgan in Enchanted) can be seen, and speaks to Giselle (Amy Adams) in the first town market scene of Monrolasia. She reminds Giselle that the festival is that night.

Amy Adams' husband Darren and daughter Aviana make cameos during the town square scene.

The film was in development since early 2010.

On January 15, 2018, Adam Shankman revealed that the script for the film was almost finished, and afterward, the songs would be written. He also confirmed the film would contain more songs than the first film but an equal amount of hand-drawn animation as the first.

Some of the Classic Homages in the movie: Three women dressed in Pink, Blue and Green like Sleeping Beauty's fairy godmothers. The broom dancing and sweeping with Morgan is the same as the magic broom in Fantasia. Dresses in the dress store include: Belle and Snow White. Props related to princesses in the dress shop include: The Rose (Beauty and the Beast), Apple (Snow White), Pumpkin (Cinderella). The candle shop in town is called "Lumiere's Candleworks" (The name of the candelabra from Beauty and the Beast.). Included in the Queen's cabinets: Spinning wheel (Sleeping Beauty), the rose in a glass (Beauty and the Beast), poisoned apple (Snow White), Potions/ Drinks (Alice in Wonderland). The Queen's henchwomen are dressed like Anastasia and Drizella (the step sisters from Cinderella) Chipmunk cat does "Black Widow Super Hero Landing".
